A. Reporting of Animal-Related Issues on the Irvine Campus

All calls for service (whether emergency or non-emergency) should be made to the campus Facilities Management service desk, (949) 824-5444. The service desk will notify the appropriate department (i.e., UCI Police, Environmental Health & Safety, or City of Irvine Animal Services) or refer the situation to UCI Pest Management.
  1. UCI Pest Management handles all non-emergency and selected emergency situations while on duty. Examples are: dead animals, confined animals, stray animals, and wild animals.
  2. City of Irvine Animal Services handles all emergency situations such as: injured animals, animal bite reports, vicious animals, and sick animals. Confined or stray animals that cannot be handled by UCI Pest Management are also handled by the City of Irvine.

  3. UCI Police handles enforcement of all violations of UCI policies and City of Irvine and County of Orange ordinances. Examples are: leash law violations, barking dogs, animals left in vehicles, and defecation law violations.

B. City of Irvine Animal Services

City of Irvine Animal Services may patrol the campus at their discretion and impound any animal found loose on the campus. Calls for service received by the City of Irvine from UCI employees will be referred back to the UCI Police.
