RE: Delegation of Authority - Student Requests for Non-University Speakers

Authority is delegated to the Vice Chancellor-Student Services, Dean of Students, Associate Dean and Director, Student Activities, and Associate and Assistant Directors of Student Activities, to approve requests by registered campus organizations for non-University speakers to address meetings on campus, subject to all University policies and campus regulations regarding the use of University properties as set forth in the Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations and Students, August 15, 1994, the Irvine Campus Policy and Procedures Manual, Section 900, and the following conditions:

The speaker is invited by and sponsored by a registered campus organization, and
Established University and campus policies and procedures governing non-University speakers shall be observed.

The Student Activities Office shall prescribe the forms and procedures for obtaining approval.

This authority may not be delegated and supersedes Chancellor Peltason's November 20, 1987 delegation on the same subject.
