RISK MANAGER

RE: Redelegation of Authority - Purchase of Accidental Death and Dismemberment and Total and Permanent Disability Insurance

The authority to purchase accidental death and dismemberment and total disability insurance was delegated to Chancellors by Presidential Delegation of Authority DA 0397, January 22, 1973. I am redelegating that authority to campus Risk Manager. The insurance may be purchased for University employees, in accordance with Business and Finance Bulletin BUS-74 [superseded by BUS-63] regardless of the source of their compensation funds, and for other persons who are associated with University-sponsored activities, to cover one or both of the following situations:

  1. Travel or activities outside the continental United States on behalf of the University; and
  2. Unusually hazardous activities for substantial periods of time within the continental United States on behalf of the University.

University of California students who are not University employees may not be included under this coverage.

Any further redelegation of this authority must be in writing with copies to the list below. This delegation supersedes the my delegation of authority on the same subject, IDA 067, April 2, 1994.
