RE: Redelegation of Authority - Write Off Bad Debts

The authority delegated to chancellors in presidential delegation of authority DA 2196, dated
January 24, 2008, to write off bad debts in any university account is redelegated to the Chief
Financial Officer and Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration, subject to the availability of
reserves, specific income, or an appropriation for that purpose. This authority may be redelegated
to one deputy administrator. Any redelegation of this authority should be done in accordance
with UCI Sec. 103-12: Delegation of Authority and Signature Authorization Guidelines.

Additionally, the authority to write off bad debts for the UCI Medical Center accounts is
redelegated to the Chief Executive Officer and to the Chief Financial Officer of UCI Health,
subject to the availability of reserves, specific income, or an appropriation for that purpose. This authority may not be redelegated further.

This delegation of authority supersedes Chancellor Cicerone’s July 10, 1998, delegation, IDA
224, on the same subject.
