RE: Redelegation of Authority - Uniform Replacement Allowances

Staff Policy 35, Protective Clothing, Equipment, and Uniforms, authorizes replacement allowances for certain uniforms. Effective July 1, 1996, DA 2068 authorized me to establish, change, or eliminate annual uniform replacement allowances. I am redelegating that authority to department heads.

An allowance should be paid when the employee is required to wear specific clothing necessary for identification purposes or other conditions that require uniforms. The allowance is meant to cover the actual cost of the required uniform, and will be funded from local resources.

Whenever uniform replacement allowances are established, changed, or eliminated, appropriate local HEERA notice to affected employees and interested employee organizations shall take place, to provide an opportunity for questions and comment in advance of the proposed implementation date.

This redelegation supersedes the December 1, 1995 delegation of authority, IDA045, from Chancellor Wilkening on the same subject.
