RE: Redelegation of Authority - Compensation for Staff Health Care Titles
On June 1, 1993, the Chancellors received delegated authority from President Peltason in DA 1084 to determine the compensation for staff health care titles.
This authority has been delegated to enable campuses to respond quickly to shifts in labor market conditions and to resolve recruitment and retention problems, while maintaining internal equity. Under this delegation, UCI has the authority to establish range widths, salary grade overlaps, and salary range minima and maxima. UCI can also adjust existing ancillary pay practices and establish the level of range adjustments for health care titles outside the parameters of the University-wide merit control figure, without seeking Office of the President approval.
This authority is redelegated to the Executive Vice Chancellor. While the majority of the incumbents in these titles are employed at the Medical Center, there are also a number in the College of Medicine and in Student Health. Delegation of the authority to you will provide for an overall UCI perspective that will help to ensure equitable pay practices among the three locations. This redelegation supersedes the August 27, 1993 delegation of authority IDA127 from Chancellor Wilkening on the same subject.
