RE: Redelegation of Authority - Senate Faculty Merits
Authority for academic personnel actions was delegated to the Executive Vice
Chancellor by the Chancellor in his delegation of authority dated July 3, 2000
(IDA 311). I am redelegating part of that authority
to you, as specified below.
Effective with the 2003-04 academic review cycle, I am redelegating to Academic
Deans authority for the following merit actions for Senate faculty in their
schools:
The first normal merit increase following appointment for Assistant Professors,
Assistant Professors In Residence, and Assistant Professors of Clinical ___
in Steps I through IV; also, the first normal merit increase following appointment
for Lecturers with Potential Security of Employment who are members of the
Academic Senate.
The first normal merit increase following appointment, promotion, or acceleration
for Associate Professors, Associate Professors In Residence, and Associate
Professors of Clinical ___ in Steps I through III; also, the first normal
merit increase following appointment or promotion and every other merit increase
thereafter, alternating with non-delegated actions, for Lecturers with Security
of Employment who are members of the Academic Senate.
The first and third normal merit increase following appointment, promotion,
or acceleration for Professors, Professors In Residence, and Professors of
Clinical ___ in Steps I through V; also, the first normal merit increase following
appointment or promotion and every other merit increase thereafter, alternating
with non-delegated actions, for Senior Lecturers with Security of Employment
who are members of the Academic Senate.
The first and third normal merit increase following appointment, advancement
to Step VI, or acceleration for Professors, Professors In Residence, and Professors
of Clinical ___ in Steps VI through IX.
All merits approved by Deans must be consistent with current systemwide and
campus policies and must be reported to Academic Personnel for information at
the time the action is taken. The Office of Academic Personnel will serve as
office of record for delegated merit files.
This authority may not be further redelegated.
