UC IRVINE DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY

IDA421 - Honoraria

IDA 421

April 11, 2006

ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE VICE CHANCELLOR

RE: Redelegation of Authority - Honoraria

An honorarium is a payment granted in recognition of a special service or distinguished achievement for which custom or propriety forbids any fixed business price to be set, according to UC Accounting Manual D-371-35. Generally, honoraria are paid to persons of scholarly or professional standing in conjunction with an academic activity, as described in Section 666 of the Academic Personel Manual.

The authority to approve payment of honoraria up to $10,000 was delegated to me by the Chancellor in IDA 420 [superseded by IDA 449]. I am redelegating this same authority to the Assistant Executive Vice Chancellor. This authority may not be further redelegated.
