RE: Delegation of Authority -- Serving of Alcoholic Beverages
The Executive Vice Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, and the Chief Operating Officer, UC Irvine Medical Center are delegated authority to approve the serving of alcoholic beverages at events sponsored by their units. The Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost may redelegate this authority to one deputy administrator and/or Deans. Vice Chancellors and the Chief Operating Officer, UC Irvine Medical Center may redelegate this authority only to one deputy administrator. Any such redelegation may not be redelegated further, and shall be in writing with copies to me and the list below.
For either student or non-student sponsored events, authority to approve the serving of alcoholic beverages is delegated also to the following administrators, as appropriate, and may not be redelegated further:
Associate Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs, for serving alcoholic beverage at ASUCI, AGS, AMS, and GSMSA sponsored events.
Assistant Vice Chancellor, Dean of Students, for serving alcoholic beverages at all events sponsored by any registered campus organization.
Assistant Vice Chancellor, Student Housing, for serving alcoholic beverages at events sponsored by housing student groups and held in residential complexes.
Director, Student Center & Event Services, for serving alcoholic beverages at summer conference related events.
Approval to serve alcoholic beverages must be obtained on a Permit to Serve Alcoholic Beverages on Campus form prior to the date of the event and shall be in accordance with University and campus policies and procedures as set forth in the attached campus Policy on Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages (Section 900-13, UCI Administrative Policies & Procedures).
The attached policy is incorporated into this delegation of authority and those administrators delegated authority will be held responsible for the policy’s proper application. This delegation supersedes Chancellor Cicerone’s delegation on the same subject dated June 29, 1999.
