RE: Redelegation of Authority - Use of University's Name

In Irvine Delegation of Authority IDA 470, January 6, 2009, Chancellor Drake delegated to the Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor, Administrative and Business Services, the authority to permit the use of the campus name (i.e., University of California, Irvine), abbreviations (e.g., UCI), logo, or any other name of which said designations or abbreviations are a part, for advertising and other commercial uses.  In addition, the Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor were authorized to redelegate this authority, as appropriate.

I am redelegating to you, as Associate Vice Chancellor, Auxiliary Services & Resource Planning, the authority for license agreements with third parties involving the manufacture and/or sale of items bearing the campus name, abbreviation, or logo, in accordance with University and campus policies (700-20), and guidelines (700-21).  All royalties derived from third party license agreements will be applied to the Chancellor's discretionary account.

This authority may not be redelegated further and supersedes my July 26, 1996 delegation on the same topic (IDA 211).
