RE: Redelegation of Authority - Execution of Documents Necessary for the Conduct of Patenting, Licensing, and Intellectual Property Matters

Senior Vice President Kennedy's November 16, 1999 letter to the Chancellor extended the Reassignment of responsibility for the administration of University patent and other intellectual property matters to the Irvine campus. All such matters shall be carried out in accordance with the Reassignment of Responsibilities Operating Guidelines, University of California at Irvine, signed November 4, 1994 and subsequent revisions thereto.

In IDA570 [superseded by IDA582, March 21, 2017, and IDA620, March 2, 2020] the Chancellor delegated to me the authority to execute documents necessary for the conduct of patenting, licensing and other intellectual property. I am redelegating authorities to UCI Applied Innovation, Invention Transfer Group staff as specified below:

  • Associate Directors, Assistant Directors, and Senior Licensing Officers are delegated the authority to execute certain documents necessary for the conduct of patenting and licensing matters and distribution of Regents’ proprietary information. Documents covered by this redelegation include:
    • Letter Options
    • Secrecy Agreements
    • Authorization for patent prosecution matters
    •  
  • Licensing Officers are delegated the authority to execute only:
    • Secrecy Agreements
    • Authorization for patent prosecution matters

These authorities may not be redelegated further. This redelegation of authority supersedes the April 3, 2015 redelegation on the same subject (IDA 452).
